Predictions for Most Popular Baby Names of 2018

What’s in a name? Usually, it’s the first piece of information we have about a person. For many moms and dads to-be, one of the first questions they get is if they have a name for the baby. No pressure, right?

From oldies but goodies to celebrities’ baby names, there is a wide array of directions expectant parents can explore to draw inspiration when choosing their baby’s name. Many of the trending names we saw in 2017 are still going strong in 2018. Current events and yearly name trends tend to dictate the list of popular names for babies. With social media keeping things moving at a fast pace, name trends can change quickly and tend to keep us on our toes.

Classic, yet conservative names have been on the rise and will continue to do so in the new year. For girls, these names include Emma, Harriett, Alice and Sadie and for boys popular names are Jack, Noah and Finn. We know things can get confusing at the playground with everyone having the same name, but remember, classic names never go out of style.

We also continue to love the Royal family which means Prince Harry’s fiancé, Meghan, and Princess Charlotte will be two top name contenders in 2018. Let’s face it, who doesn’t want to be named after Royalty?

For the guys, names ending in “en” or “on” are still very popular. Names like Grayson, Aiden and Jackson are here to stay. We don’t see them being knocked off the list anytime soon.

Celebrities continue to be a big inspiration to our society when it comes to naming their little ones. Chrissy Teigen and Kourtney Kardashian have set the trends for names such as Luna, Mason, and Penelope. Blue Ivy, Apple and North haven’t quite caught on yet, but it’s possible those names may grow on us and we could see a whole wave of babies with those names. Only time will tell if those more unique names start to become more mainstream.
